Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
Actually, a bit more, I think. Certainly in the latter half of the year I wrote much more than I thought I would. It's all those AUs, for better or worse.
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January 2012?
Skyfall/Sherlock. God, I totally did not expect that to become a thing that I wrote. Especially to the extent that I have expanded the universe. I mean, I did not see that coming at all. Nope.
What's your favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?
I am immensely proud of "Lost for Words". I am very pleased with getting it done, and the warm response it's received. But in terms of making me the happiest? "Acceptably Close to Love". I am really, very happy with that one. I managed to do exactly what I set out to do with it.
What's your least favorite story of the year, regardless of the reviews it got (or didn't get)?
"Operation Stradivarius". I fought with that one, and I think it was better as a throwaway line than a full story. I couldn't get the feel of it the way I wanted it to go, and I have learned it's best not to fight, and just let it go.
Did you take any writing risks this year? (See above for unexpected pairings, etc.) What did you learn from them?
I think doing anything different in the Sherlock fandom is a bit of a risk, as it's a very volatile environment. My John/Sarah verse was probably risky, but very well-received. I think I learned that it's maybe not as terrifying to post something new than I think it will be. I haven't gotten a single negative review for anything I've tried--and I've done some weird stuff this year.
Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?
Not really. I'd like to go back to the canon characters, but I hope to be able to fold some Series Three events into the AU verses, too. I'm hoping I can still do something with them.
