"I'm working on the body first."
I have yet to see the new X-men movie, and it will likely be quite awhile before I do, but in the meantime, here is an adorable interview clip of the Magnetos and Xaviers young and old doing impressions of one another:

I have to say, Fassbender's McKellan is pretty spot on.

I love the reactions of Stewart and McKellan at hearing the impressions. They are the coolest of the cool men.

I like to think this is what Hiddleston and Cumberbatch will be like in thirty odd years or so. Total badass best friends. Though I think McAvoy and Fassbender are on their way there, too. In fact, all four of them seem to get on pretty well. UK actor mafia for the win!
formerly lifeinsomniacjoonscribble on May 30th, 2014 03:01 pm (UTC)
Hiddleston and Cumberbatch would totally be the outwardly calm, gentlemanly but secretly crazy and 7 year olds on crack best friends.

McAvoy and Fassbender would be the very much not secretly crazy and 7 year olds on crack best friends.
The Writer They Call Tayawanderingbard on May 30th, 2014 03:04 pm (UTC)
Ha! This is true! Cumberbatch and Hiddlesotn get ten times more gentlemanly when they are together, and McAvoy and Fassbender are just terrible influences on one another. Perhaps they should come to our tea party and learn how to behave themselves. :-D

This tea party would have to move to the seaside because clearly Fassbender's animal would be a shark.

Yes, this 100% true. I was wondering how we were going to accommodate him. But I don't think our British gentlemen would mind too much having a nice picnic at the beach. It's probably good for faun!Whishaw to get out of his cottage once in a while, and otter!Batch could have a bit of a swim.

For some reason 'Beaver' jumped to mind for McAvoy, so maybe he could invite everyone back to the water for the party.

He'd still bring a book to read while everyone else goes frolicking but that's just his way.

There have already been a bunch of animal!AUs where Erik is almost always a shark. Charles has been a cat, a dolphin, or a rat (thanks to the lab rat comment). Fan artists have already been pretty productive on that front:

palalife also did one of Charles and Erik as a cat and dog, respectively which is pretty damn cute: http://palalife.tumblr.com/image/36191955676

Yes, and sit under the umbrella because he burns so easily. Hiddleston would probably keep him company, and play his guitar or something. Otter!batch would play frisbee.

Fan artists have already been pretty productive on that front.

Oh fandoms, never change. I love how no matter how weird I get, there is always someone out there who is just as weird, if not weirder as me.

I like the cat idea. Maybe a little munchkin cat.

Yup. That's the marvelous thing about fandom: there is always someone who has taken it to the next level.

I realized just now that I'm conflating Charles with James McAvoy in terms of his animal (I'm thinking about this way too much). That munchkin cat is kind of perfect though, still. You find the best animals!

(I'm thinking about this way too much).

You and me both, babe.

You find the best animals!

Thank you! It's all the time I spend looking for daemons, I have an encylopaedic knowledge of weird animals and their traits. Useless knowledge is my superpower. Maybe kitty!Charles could come to the tea part with Loki, Q, and Sherlock. Because Sherlock would love someone who can read his mind.
formerly lifeinsomniacjoonscribble on May 30th, 2014 03:43 pm (UTC)
Because Sherlock would love someone who can read his mind.

I can't decide if Charles would find Sherlock's mind palace impressive or a little depressing. I guess it would depend on which era Charles we're talking about. 60s Charles would probably be impressed. 70s Charles would find it boring. Current!Charles would just be zen and accepting of anything he finds in there.
The Writer They Call Tayawanderingbard on May 30th, 2014 03:48 pm (UTC)
Yeah, 60's Charles would definitely find Sherlock's mind very groovy.

And current!Charles would make Loki sit down and talk his feelings out, because that poor boy has some issues.

You were warned!
Replying up here so we don't break LJ, our thread was getting very squashed.

After what is probably far too much time spent on research, I present:

Avenger Daemons

Hawkeye-- Jasna ( pearl kite)
Tash -- Altan (rainbow boa)
Coulson -- Athansia "Attie" (German Shepherd)
Tony -- Demira ( tailorbird)
Thor -- Svana ( some sort of alien sheep loosely like a manx sheep, that can also fly)
Fury -- Chariovalda (black jaguar)
Bruce -- Nemi (qinling panda)
Steve -- Ishild "Issie" (teddy roosevelt terrier)

Re: You were warned!
Eeeee!!! No regrets!

Aw. Thor's daemon has horns like Loki. That makes me a little sad.

I like how the colors of Hawkeye and Natasha's daemons seem to complement each other.

Bruce's daemon is perfect! The photo especially!

Aw. Thor's daemon has horns like Loki. That makes me a little sad.

I was originally going to give him a Norwegian Lynx, but it looked too much like a caracal. So now I think their daemons look like each other a little. I thought giving Thor an animal that head butts would suit him.

Bruce's daemon is perfect! The photo especially!

Qinling pandas literally look like men in panda suits. So much so, I had to check three times to make sure it was not, in fact, a man in a panda suit.

"Really, Bob? Again? I thought we agreed no more panda suit."
"But it's so comfortable and warm."
"People are taking pictures!"

Re: You were warned!
HAHA! And thus, a whole subpecies of panda was born.

But seriously. Is that not a man in a panda suit?
formerly lifeinsomniacjoonscribble on May 31st, 2014 04:04 am (UTC)
Re: You were warned!
The fact that they're brown and white makes it seem more like a panda suit rather than an actual live panda. It's so weird! That and the way they sit seems very person, not panda.

Re: You were warned!
I think they look like teddy bears, which is what you said about Bruce. A timid little teddy bear. And now I'm picturing Tony's bird hopping all over her, and poking her with her beak and being all 'Let's be best friends!'

Re: You were warned!
Aww! ^_^

Now I want to write Thor and Steve learning how to microwave together or something.

Thor: It is making suspicious noises, Captain Rogers.
Steve: No, it's popcorn. Those noises are totally normal.
Tony: Hey, Technopeasants, you're going to miss the start of the movie, hurry up.
Thor: There are still 30 seconds on the microwave, Stark. It seems unwise to rush the machine.

Hahaha!!! I know it's an old comedy trope but I always LOVE watching characters trying to acclimate to present times. Or in Thor's case just Midgard.
The Writer They Call Tayawanderingbard on May 31st, 2014 04:23 am (UTC)
Re: You were warned!
Me too! I thought the movie did a great job of managing to make Thor realistic in Midgard, in terms of managing to suss things out fairly quickly but still being off the mark in a few places. Like clearly this box on wheels is how we get around, but perhaps we could find a horse or a cat to ride.

Fassbender's a little uncanny there. And I love McKellan's "I'm working on the body first," which I guess you did too, since you used it as the title!
The Writer They Call Tayawanderingbard on May 30th, 2014 08:26 pm (UTC)
It seems that most actors are pretty good at impressions. Probably from pretending to be their favourites when they were little.

Yes, I loved McKellan's change to Fassbender's alpha male pose.

I feel like Fassbender is a little more in awe of McKellan than McAvoy is of Stewart. McAvoy seems very comfortable with Stewart, where as Fassbender has just the slight air of speaking to an elder statesman.
